INTERNAL - Mockups and Silhouette

During this session members sewing their own kit were shown how to properly assemble a mockup and how to mark alterations. For this exercise a mockup in red thread was used to illustrate the tailoring process. A discussion on silhouettes was carried out and as a result alterations were proposed and marked on the mockup.

As mentioned in previous sessions, we have based our pattern making on those published by Juan de Alcega. Alcega’s work tend to be slightly later than the priory we portray, this reflects in some of the features present in our mockup. In the collage we can see a side by side of our mock up and Janet Arnold’s diagram study of Don Garzia di Medici’s doublet which relates more to the period in question.
