As part of this event, we will be offering the opportunity for visitors to participate in the daily life of cave-dwelling communities of 15th century Malta. By the end of the day, you and your family would have learnt how to start a fire, how cotton was grown, and how medieval food was prepared, among other things.

Schedule for the day:

  • 10:00 - Meeting next to the pillbox below the parking area

  • 10:15 - Night’s watch will guide the group into the cave complex

  • Getting ready for the day the medieval way: Clothing and Hygiene

  • Cotton and crop cultivation

  • Workshops

    • Cooking

    • Collecting tinder and fire starting

    • Lucet Weaving

    • Net making

  • 13:00 - Closing of workshops and picnic

Important to note:

  • The area is only accessible on foot - not easily accessible for people with mobility impairments

  • We advise participants to wear comfortable clothing and closed walking shoes

  • We suggest aprons for young children as cooking activities tend to be messy

  • You can bring a packed lunch and water and enjoy a picnic with us

  • Water for hand washing will be provided by organisers

  • Due to food handling requirements, the public is not advised to consume food prepared on site

  • We do not tolerate littering of any kind - concealed waste baskets will be provided

  • All data provided by the applicant will be handled as per GDPR regulations

  • The path to the complex includes rough/ overgrown terrain which can prove difficult to navigate with small children and the elderly - this is at the risk of the visitor.
